Also, each Windows version has its own unique problems, bugs, or configuration issues. It is easy to check the version of your Windows computer. There are two ways to check your Windows Version: System Properties | Start -> Run, winver | One way to find your Windows version is through the System Properties window. Find your My Computer icon. It's usually in the top-left corner of your main desktop. In Windows XP, it's located in the Start Menu.
Right-click the My Computer icon and choose Properties, as pictured below.
The General tab of the System Properties looks virtually identical on all versions of Windows. Under the System section you can see the Version info as well as the Service Pack info. Method 2: Start -> Run, winver Here is a second way to find your Windows version. Click Start to view your Start Menu, as pictured below.
Then, click Run if you still cannot see which version of Windows you have.
After clicking Start->Run, a new "Run" window appears, as shown below. Type the word "winver" (without the quotes, of course) in the "Open" box. Then click OK. After clicking OK, a new window displays information about the version of Windows on your computer. The following screenshots show examples from each version.
